30 Days of Character Development
Volume One
Day One: Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
Blue Unlike the other Pallet kids, Blue is fortunate enough to both know who each of her parents are and have them both around. This was, admittedly, something that always made Blue somewhat self-conscious, especially after Green's parents left. Even though they always asked her if she wanted to invite the boys over, Blue steadfastly never did. She would only ever go over to their houses. (But they would invite people over, so its not like they were never over.) It felt weird to feel embarassed over having a good family situation, but she just never understood growing up why she got to have a mom and a dad around all the time and her friends didn't. She still doesn't really get it.
Despite that, Blue gets along fairly well with her parents. She gets along much better with her dad, since she spent a lot more time with him when she was younger. He works in Professor Oak's lab as one of his aides, and would often bring his little girl stories of the people he'd meet and the little pokemon that they took care of at the lab. Sometimes when they weren't busy he would let her tag along. She's definitely kind of a daddy's girl. She gets along with her mom, but Blue has always felt that part of her has always been kind of letting her mom down. Blue was always more interested in running around in the dirt and dangling out of trees than she was playing pretend with dolls or getting all dressed up and pretending to be a princess and all that. Going by Bluebelle. That sort of stuff.
Buuuut she's their only daughter. Blue counts her blessings each time she's reminded just how lucky she is to have such a supportive care. Even though going off on a coming-of-age Pokemon Journey is the standard round pokemon world parts, the kids usually come back for at least a little while after their journey is done. Blue just kept going. Of course they showed a bit of concern, but ultimately they let her go. Blue's fairly certain its because they trusted her and not because her parents were super irresponsible. In this regard she's totally spoiled. Though, uh, also Eevee.
She tries to keep in contact with them as much as possible so they don't have any real reason to worry about her.
Bulba Blah blah lab starter blah no parents blah blah bloo bloo. Well, no, he has parents, but he's never met them. He was not a pure bred saur, unlike Marie and Char in their lines. His mother was an Ivysaur, and his dad was a Blastoise. He never knew what exactly his mom might have been, but he ended up having his suspicions about his dad when he got older. Skull Bash doesn't come from no where, after all. Bulba never had any real desire to meet them. There's nothing to miss when you've never met them.
As far as other parental figures in his life… Bulba's never really taken to thinking of anyone as a mother or a father to him. Green hatched him, but he's never considered him to be like his dad or anything. Green is just Green. He's an entity all to himself. To be perfectly honest, he sort of adopted early on that parents weren't a thing he needed at all. It's a sentiment that kind of rubbed off on him watching Green.
He doesn't entirely realize it, but he sort of just naturally lends himself to being some sort of Green Team Mom. While he thinks (THINKS) he's all right without parental figures of his own, he doesn't think it's so good for anyone else. Not in those words exactly, since he just thinks its important for people to have someone they can lean on and he tries to do that.
The parents issue in general has been something he's warmed up to a little as he got older and did things like raising deku scrubs. He's not really sure how it would end up happening, but he'd like to have kids someday. It's something he's just totally wired for.
Celebi Oh. Well. Hm. Uh. Celebi kind of hates her momdad like a raging, misunderstood teenager with a chip on her shoulder. It's a resentment that's stuck with her for basically the entirety of her life since day one, and its not about to fade any time soon. She's consumed with bitter feelings, and every time Arceus is in some sort of relationship it causes Celebi to side-eye all over the place and augh. Why does SHE get to love like the mortals love. Why does SHE get off thinking she can act like a mother. Why why WHY. Celebi's relationship is full of angry questions. If she had actually won the Bachelor Auctions, she only ever had plans to force the answers out of Arceus.
Due to all of her hangups and resentments, Celebi hates associating herself as one of Arceus' children. (Not to be confused with associating herself as siblings and cousins, in most cases.) Celebi substitutes the tree she was borne from as her parental figure, though obviously not as one that is a guiding force. It serves more as an anchoring point of reference to keep her grounded in this reality. Otherwise there's a high potential that Celebi would just slip off into various deep ends or time streams and gosh that would just get messy. Her little house in Ilex Forest is at the base of this tree.
Screw you momdadgod.
Izzy Izzy is another member of Team Both parents. They are happily married residents of FDC, and are both Smash Academy Alumni. Clara the Crobat was originally from outside of Fuschia City in Kanto. Nicodemus the Noctowl was native to outside of Cherrygrove in Johto. The two met as a Zubat and a Hoothoot at Smash Academy, where they were also into the same kind of honesty information business that Izzy is currently. Clara was the ears, and Nic was her eyes. They were a pair to be reckoned with, and developed into high school sweethearts. Izzy kind of gags every time she hears about their sappy sappiness. (Which is often. They dote on each other a lot. Gross. Did you know Clara evolved into a Crobat on her wedding night? BECAUSE SHE DID. MOM.)
They are still a force to be reckoned with in their own ways. They grew up to be a pair of lawyers, thought admittedly on rival sides. Clara is a prosecutor located in FDC, while Nic is a defense attorney (HA) working from Raccoon City. They've had their share of court battles, but they seem to look forward to those more than dreading them. They're invigorating tests of skill and battle?? (And honestly, either way the family gets some cash so that's not anything they have to worry about.)
Izzy thinks her folks are all right. She can't say she loves them, since even they aren't immune to her inability to really connect with anyone, but they're ok. They know how to take care of their daughter's needs, which is a big plus, and they are relatively supportive of her. Being a bright bat, they trust she'll pick her battles well enough. And if she doesn't… well. All three of them know the reality of the situations that Izzy could find herself in, since they were there too. It's a very independent sort of family.
Vianca Has zero for realsie parents. She sprouted from a pellet and an onion as a red Pikmin, plucked up by one Olimar. The captain was fairly close as a parental figure very early on, but Vianca's thoughts on that changed fairly early. Olimar did not lead very much while in FDC, since he had his own life there and didn't really need a pack of pikmin to help him out with anything. He left the pikmin that came to the Academy to be fairly independent, which is a move that Vianca found somewhat odd after reading through some of his notes and journals. (Which was… kind of sneaky on her part, admittedly, but he didn't seem to mind when he found out.) He did not always treat the girls the same as he treated his children, which was completely understandable from Vianca's viewpoint. The pikmin were not his children. They were pikmin.
She stopped calling him Leader early on once she stopped thinking of him as one. Maybe she did not need one. Maybe she could be her own leader, despite a pikmin's natural tendency to follow in line.
But then there was EVA. It happened slowly, but if anyone would ask Vianca who she thought her parent would be, she'd say EVA without a thought. The woman makes her feel safe and content in ways that Olimar never had. It was odd at first when Vianca mistook the feelings she felt as a different sort of love, not knowing that there could really be a difference when it came to people that were not Sisters or Brothers. She has a better idea of it now, though, since the feeling is so similar to the feeling she has for her siblings. EVA continues to mean a large deal to Vianca, and the pikmin misses her very much when she's away. She hopes that being the librarian now might be something that EVA might take a little pride in.
Day Two: What are your characters most prominent physical features?
Blue She does not have many features to distinguish her from anyone else at all. She's very plain and tends to blend in with the crowd. Biggest contenders for being "prominent" would be the blue of her eyes, the natural flip of her bangs and that hat she wears most of the time.
Bulba He's more interesting. As an Ivysaur, his most prominent features are the fact that he's shiny which makes him a brighter green and gives his flower a bright yellow coloration instead of pink. In general, being domestic, he is rounder and slightly more filled out than his wild counterparts. On the font-left side of his flower, there is a petal that was torn mostly off. A small bit remains, as it was torn off and not out.
In human form he retains some of his prominent features. His spots remain, he retains his green cat-like ears, and his eyes and tongue remain yellow. His hair is pretty prominent itself with its green and blonde mix. On his back is a big tattoo. (Link also contains: location of spots.)
Celebi Her biggest feature in either form are her VERY LARGE blue eyes. They are. Super huge. Somewhat unnaturally so. The ever-so-slightly green hue of her skin probably also counts in human-form. It looks fine when on her own, but put her next to someone with a proper skin tone and it becomes more apparent that she's a bit off. Minty green+blue hair. Rather onion shaped as a pokemon. HER ENTIRE BEING IS PROMINENT there is only one of her. Short. Reference Link.
Izzy As a Zubat she is like every other Zubat ever. Ever. EVER.
As a people she has bright blue hair with two bits that stick out over her head. Her skin is deathly pale and covered in dark freckles (mostly on her cheeks). Her clothing choices are horrible because who even gives a fuck she can't see what she's putting on. The most prominent feature that Izzy sports as a human that usually cannot be seen is the fact that she lacks eyes in any way, shape or form. The sockets of her skull are still there, they just aren't filled with anything. Instead of eyes filling her eye cavities, there is simply smooth skin.
Vianca As a pikmin, the things that make her stand out amongst other pikmin colors are her large red eyes and very tiny size.
As a person, her red eyes and very tiny size continue to be things that make Vianca stick out, since they are very read and she is Very Small. To Date, I believe she continues to be the shortest humanoid character in the game. Her albinism is also obviously a big factor in her appearance. She has a bright pink flower in her hair. Rrrreference.
Day Three: Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
Blue Most of her scars are mostly from dumb accidents when she was a kid, like most scars tend to be. She has a few burn scars around her wrists and one awkward one on her stomach from various firelizard related incidents. There's a few faded, tiny scars on her legs and back from random tumbles from high places. One small one near her hairline on the right side of her face from falling out of a tree. She also might (??) have some bite marks on her leg from some hyenas (???) possibly (??!).
Bulba He has a fair number of old, inconsequential scars from various fights and tumbles as a Pokemon. That's just how things go. He's cropped up with a number of other ones in more recent years though. His fingers suffer from a number of knicks and cuts from learning how to cut things properly (+ some accidents!), as well as a number of burns. His arms have their share of burn bands as well from misplaced pans and accidental run-ins with ovens. Some of the worst scars on his back have faded significantly with his evolution, as they were acquired in Bulbasaur stage: namely the ones he acquired from 'Meleons during crazier times. They were mostly cuts and scratches, though he did get a few burn marks. Really the only reason they ended up scarring as much as they did was because Bulba spent more time chasing Char than he did taking care of himself and they kept opening up oops. There is also the matter of his flower petal, obviously. As a person this doesn't show up very obviously, since his flower becomes an internalized part of him. Below his left shoulder blade there are some raised pinches or stretch-mark-looking waves. They are weird and mostly unnoticeable what with his tattoo all over the place, but that's where it is.
Celebi NOPE. HEALING HERSELF.
Izzy She had her batpendix out, so that one.
Vianca Shallow faded cuts on her arms and on her side from a KNIFE FIGHT (she fought with a kniiiife). Thin lacerations over her back and stomach and just behind her neck that came more from being strung up for the Freaks Get Out incident rather then the incident itself. Tender plant bits noo.
Day Four: How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
Blue She's not very vain. While she's pretty confident in herself, its not really her looks that make the confidence. She definitely doesn't think she's unattractive, but she doesn't think she's very pretty either. Just a comfortable "average." It's something she's pretty content with on a whole. Of course there's been times where she'd wish she was a bit prettier, but that was mostly when she was younger. Since then she's had people call her attractive, so while she doesn't entirely believe them, she at least knows she's got something going for her. Some… how...
Bulba When he was a Bulbasaur, he also wanted to look a bit like Green when he turned into a person. If I had ever at any point considered self-perception as an element of gijinka designing (or if I had been Bulba's original designer), he might have. But that was never a thing that was considered, even when designing Ivy, so he doesn't really resemble Green too much. That being said, Bulba's okay with how he looks. Green Team has been referred to as a "handsome pack of devils" by Green before so he's not really lacking any confidence there. He can look in the mirror and go, "yeah, I look pretty all right." He's actually pretty proud of his body too, ok, even if he did not do it for the look. He worked hard on that 8'|
Celebi Actually, yes, Celebi is rather vain. She thinks she's rather adorable, thank you very much.
Izzy Um, Izzy is pretty much the hottest thing on the planet OK.
As a more serious answer, there's always been a part of her that's been a bit curious about what she actually looks like. It doesn't really matter to her what her appearance actually is, however, despite the curiosity.
Vianca Her appearance isn't really something she's actively concerned herself with. She believes she looks all right because she is herself, and there's really no other way for her to look. Though at times she misses her red appearance, though that is mostly for practical reasons. (Taller, doesn't burn as easily, etc.)
Day Five: What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?
Blue 1. Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual. Blue definitely likes guys, but she's had the stray moments where she's found some girls up there in attractiveness. Nothing serious.
Bulba 6, more or less. Exclusively homosexual. Can find girls to be attractive but is generally not attracted. His first relationship was with a girl, but it was less of a real thing for either of them and more of just a really close friendship because they were both like. 13. (2 or something in Hojita's case sdfsdg.)
Celebi 3. Equally heterosexual and homosexual. She's actually pretty much pan but shh. She'll switch to match if you ask her u_u
Izzy X, but if she had any inkling for anything she'd nab somewhere around a 4. Non-sexual / Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual.
Vianca 5. Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual.
Day Six: Describe your character’s happiest memory.
Blue Laying in the grass with her friends, whispering about all the plans they had for when they would go on their adventures. Laughing at something silly Green would say, poking Red in his side until he'd finally laugh too. Seeing who could count the most stars, because whoever did would get to go the farthest someday.
Beating the Elite Four. Not the Championship, since that was actually a little bittersweet for her, but the Elite Four was one of their goals.
Standing at the top of Twist Mountain with her Pokemon and just… looking out over at everything. They'd come so far and seen so much. Blue had stood there and watched the sunrise and just laughed to her heart's content. They could go literally anywhere they wanted, she was completely sure.
Bulba Being a simple dude, a lot of his happier memories have a lot to do with most of the team being together in a good mood. Partying in Unova, Char coming back, Flying off to Sinnoh for birfdeis, etc.
The rest are actually fairly bittersweet. Becoming champions, even if it didn't last long. Getting a kiss from Green meant that they had come to terms with each other after everything that had happened. It definitely wasn't happy, but it was good. Getting a hug from Char means a whole hell of a lot to Bulba, so even if the circumstances weren't good he can still feel thankful for that one thing.
Despite everything else that happened on Tikki Island, running around with Vinnie and running through the surf with Char and just helping Green with understanding him more were all happy enough to note as well.
Celebi Every time anyone thinks of her as mother. Their whole lifetime is one of her happiest memories, okay.
Izzy Getting told that she would get to go to school too. The night before her first day when she was sitting around with all her new school things and being so excited for everything. Being told she could go to Smash Academy was pretty good too, even if she was a lot more jaded at this point.
Vianca After the war, when she knew all her sisters were safe and sound. Having magic actually respond to her, albeit slightly. Moments with EVA. Becoming a librarian For Real.
Day Seven: Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
Blue There are no events out of Blue's own life that she'd really think to get rid of. She's pretty happy with the lot of it, at the moment. There are times when she will sit and wonder what would happen if things had panned out differently though. What if she had gotten to Indigo Plateau first. What if she had done her route a bit differently. What if Red actually talked to people. These sorts of things were a lot more prevalent when she went through Johto. She doesn't entertain them anymore since its long since past. Overall, Blue is pretty certain that things happen for a reason and that everything should probably stay as it is, as shitty as they might have ended up being.
Bulba At one point he might have said AU week. It was horrible and the aftermath was horrible and just. Horrible all over the place. But he's managed to find some sort of closure about the whole thing, what with a Not Dead other Green showing up during 4th walling. He didn't get to apologize to both parties that he wanted to, but 1/2 is a hell of a lot more than Bulba ever thought possible. He definitely hasn't entirely forgiven himself yet, but he's found some weird sort of peace about the whole thing. Relatively. Mostly.
Now he'd be most likely to say his heartswap with Marie. The week itself was livable for Bulba, but it was more or less the foundations for the mountain of badtimes that happened afterwards. If they hadn't had been swapped, they might not have kissed. Or, even if they had still kissed, bizarre loss of everstones wouldn't have happened. Bulba's hair wouldn't have been cut. A fight between Char and Marie might have still happened at some point and it might have still had tattoo-related aggression involved, but Marie might have actually manned up a little. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad. … But even if one of his few good friendships took a beating as result, Bulba still isn't sure if he'd actually erase it because he was able to get Closer to Char too.
Small things continue to come out of the bigger things, so Bulba might just shake his head and hold his tongue.
Celebi She could change some things if she really wanted to. It would be quite easy, actually. Just a little re-arranging and no one would ever know.
Celebi doesn't because she knows that they outcome will inevitably be the same to her. Something better might have happened, but the person that she did them for will always end up dead.
Izzy Nope.
Vianca Vianca would personally say nothing. But if it were a quiet wish that no one ever needed to know, then at this point she might still whisper that the entire event of her life is probably better off not existing. (It should be noted, however, that her thought process has been slowly turning away from this back to some begrudging acceptance of herself as something that deserves a chance as much as anything else does. It's just taking her a while to get back there.)
Day Eight: Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Blue Ice Cream: Stantler Tracks.
Color: BLUE (and orange).
Song: Total Eclipse of the Heart get out of here.
Flower: Morning glories.
Bulba Ice Cream: Mint Chocolate Chip.
Color: Pink and Green.
Song: Somewhere Only We Know.
Flower: Pink wood anemone.
Celebi Ice Cream: Lavender.
Color: Green.
Song: The forest's lullaby.
Flower: HOW DARE YOU ASK THIS QUESTION the answer is all of them.
Izzy Ice Cream: 80% Cocoa or Espresso, if she's forced. She hates sweets.
Color: WHAT THE FUCK ARE COLORS EVEN.
Song: El Mañana strange but true.
Flower: Dandelions are pretty inoffensive smelling and she likes chewing on their stems let's go with those.
Vianca Ice Cream: I don't think she's ever had ice cream. Vanilla.
Color: Purple.
Song: She also does not listen to music, but Pikmin melodies.
Flower: Candy…pops….
Day Nine: Who does your character trust?
Blue Her parents. They're… her parents. She tries to keep them mostly up to date, but there are some things she keeps from them for their own good.
Her team even moreso. They've been there for her nearly every step of the way, and she trusts every single one of them whole heartedly. Blue does not make a habit of keeping many secrets from them at all, and will unlikely get into the practice any time soon. If Blue knows it, it is likely a good bet that her Pokemon know it to some capacity as well. Whether that holds true in reverse is entirely up to each Pokemon. She trusts them with their own secrets and that they would come to her if it was a problem. Blue has had absolutely no reason to doubt any of them.
As much as she might refer to them both as idiots in other contexts, Blue also trusts Red and Green. They might both follow questionable courses of action at times, but they're both capable and Blue knows they'd both come through when it counts. She trusts both of them in subtley different ways, however. If there was anyone Blue needed to trust a secret to, it would be Red. If she needs an honest opinion on something, she turns to Green. It doesn't really make one better than the other at them, that's just the way things ended up. (And it suits each of their personalities better, frankly.)
By proxy she trusts Red and Green's teams, though not in the same ways she trusts them or her own team. In their cases its a different sort of trust in that she's trusting her best friends to them and knows that they'll look after them in ways she'd never be able to. As she gets the chance to know each of them more individually at the Academy, its possible that these already present beginnings of a trusting bond will solidify into stronger, more personal friendships.
Bulba Green. Always Green. Outside of the instances where Bulba possibly forgave his trainer too fast for dumb things, Green's never given him a real reason not to trust him. At least not when it comes to Bulba himself. He's always been there. Well. Almost. The two instances where Green left Bulba at the school were admittedly really hard for the then Bulbasaur to deal with because of Reasons. While deep down at heart he knew there was nothing for him to worry about, some of his whispering insecurities still got the better of him at times. This was, of course, only until Green returned and was forgiven instantly because Bulba physically can't stay upset at Green in any capacity for longer than 12 hours at the very most if he is physically right there 8| Whatever his issues might have been as a Bulbasaur, they've all been rather knocked in the water because Bulba knows with every bit in him that there's essentially no way he can't trust Green. He forgave him. He let him be friends with someone maybe he shouldn't have been. He still has Bulba's back after everything, so of course Bulba would always have his. He is Bulba's usual go to for confiding or opinions, and will generally always get to know things before others.
Just… just as long as it has nothing to do with whatever feelings he's kept tucked away. Bulba hates keeping secrets from Green, but this one's for his own good.
… It should be noted that at times Bulba might trust him too much. "I trust you not to do something stupid" has apparently at times been interpreted to mean, "Yes please do this stupid thing like instigate a thunder god." GREEN.
After Green, Bulba trusts his team mates the most. Duh. Some, admittedly, slightly more than others. Luckily the ones at school are generally the ones he has the closest feelings towards nowadays. Jolt's been one of the guys to be around the longest, so Bulba generally feels pretty okay with talking to him about things and knowing he can count on his bro in a pinch. He thinks it is super pretty great that Jolt is around now. (It should also be noted that Bulba does not entirely trust Jolt when it comes to him taking care of himself, since the amount of times Bulba has found him passed out or something after training too much on his own is TOO HIGH, JOLT. THE LIST IS TOO HIGH.)
As for Char… Bulba trusts him. He really, truly does. It's hard to tell sometimes, since Bulba is… well. He's Bulba. He's prone to worrying and Char gives him plenty of reasons to worry. Ultimately though, Bulba is more sure now that Char will eventually come back. He trusts him enough not to get into too much shit, but he can't say he's altogether surprised when Char does, because he's Char. That's what Char does. It's true that Bulba could be a little bit more forthcoming on the important information bits if he trusts Char so much, but a lot of the issue isn't so much that he doesn't trust Char with it he just… sometimes it seems like Char would be better off if he didn't have to deal with some things. After their last big heart-to-heart, though, Bulba has a much better idea of how No That is Wrong and Cut That Out. So he's working on it. He just has to figure out how to not be the Prince of Worst Timing. It's awkward and kind of bumbling and sometimes it hurts more than it doesn't, but Bulba knows that Char has his back and is incredibly thankful for it. He doesn't usually think twice about taking a seat next to Char's butt or cuddling up vaguely close to that flame of his, which should be telling enough in itself.
… Even though Bulba kind of screwed a lot of things up, it doesn't change the fact that he trusts Vinnie too. It took a while, and it was kind of surprising that it happened at all, but there it is. Even though it might seem like a pretty obvious thing to do to most folks, the fact that Vinnie took Bulba to his garden at all was a big deal to Bulba. So was flower talking. So was everything after AU week. And tikis. And flower shops. And crying in greenhouses. A lot of things. He knows that Vinnie probably doesn't trust him very much anymore, but he still holds Vinnie in high regard. Trust isn't so easily repaired for everyone else as it is like Bulba and Green's scenario, so he can only hope that maybe someday it will start to building back up again.
He trusts folks like Samus and Falcon for various reasons, they've come through when its important in their own ways. Pit's a good friend, and Kanji hasn't blabbed out the other crying incident all over the place so he trusts them both to certain extents. In general Bulba's actually a pretty trusting guy. He might not trust you with all of his secrets ever, but unless you give him a reason to distrust you, you're probably pretty good in his books overall.
… He still really wants to trust Max. He wants to believe that he can get over himself and be a super great guy but… There's a really big part of Bulba that's tied to his team that just won't let him right now. He keeps track of the big guy's comings and goings, but so far hasn't been able to bring himself to really say anything again. Even if they get back on speaking terms, Bulba's not sure how deeply he could really trust him anymore. We'll have to see.
Celebi This is a relatively hard and easy question at the same time. On the easy end, Celebi trusts every plant. There is no way in her view of the world that a plant could actually at heart be anything that is bad. They might be perceived as bad to others, but she won't ever see them that way. She'll trust them with some of her giggly secrets, but not all of them. She can love them with all her heart, and she might trust all of them, but it is a ginger trust.
There are very few individuals that Celebi trusts deeper than that. Mew, for one. It's hard not to trust the person you were designed for. Uxie, though she trusts him only about as much as a pixie can. When you're vaguely like-minded, you know how likely it is for mischief to occur.
She trusts Vinnie too, but it's a different sort. It's less trusting him with things about her and more… trusting him to himself? He's already grown up, there's not much more she can really do for him at this point besides keep a watchful eye over him
Izzy The closest Izzy's ever really come to trusting people are her parents, and even that is strained half the time. The only person she can really trust one hundred percent is herself, and she doubts that's ever going to change. She didn't even trust Uxie completely. The Being of Knowledge might know everything and he might have seemed to have liked her, but Izzy knows damn well that legendaries don't have to subscribe to any sort of moral code. What he said was taken with a grain of salt, just like most of the things she hears.
Vianca It's in a Pikmin's nature to trust things. That can be detrimental at times, when not left in check. However, Vianca has always been an odd sort of Pikmin. She's trusting on a basic level, but overall she views the world with cynical eyes and does not trust anyone completely until they display that they are worthy of it. It took her a very long time to trust Falcon on any level, though she does now to an extent.
She trusts every single one of her siblings, because trust needs to be mutual and she can't expect them to trust her if she doesn't trust them.
She trusts EVA. She trusts Rhys. She trusts Knuckles. She trusts Sasha to an extent, just as she trusted Bob and Raikou to an extent. She trusted Ivy when she was younger and a bit more prone to opening up easier.
Eli…. Vianca isn't sure if she actually trusts the snake. One one hand, she's a snake. While Vianca is definitely not the sort to judge someone on what they are, she's acutely aware that what you are defines you, and there are some things about yourself that you never really escape from. Instincts. However, Eli did keep a look out for Ai for her, and she did invite Vianca to a place that Vianca was definitely not supposed to be and showed her a side that she was possibly not supposed to see. Whether or not that actually indicated any trust on Eli's end, Vianca can never be sure, but she's also hesitant to see it as a reason to trust Eli, if only because she's just a giant pile of uncertainty.
So on some level, yes. She might trust Eli.
Day Ten: Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.
Blue Green's folks leaving was kind of a turning point for all three kids, I think, though in different ways obviously. Bad things could happen to people she cared about, and there's nothing she could do to change it. It didn't mean things had to stay bad but… it was kind of a dose of reality handed to little kids before they should have had to deal with it.
Visiting Lorelei was kind of a key point. Blue had already reached a goal she had established for herself, but didn't entirely feel fulfilled and didn't know what she was supposed to do from there. Getting to talk things over with an esteemed lady that a lot of people (Blue included) respected a lot really helped to put a few things in perspective for her, and reassured her that it was okay to pursue new things even if she wasn't sure what she was pursuing. The thrill of life and all that.
I think there was probably a little something in each of the regions that have probably changed something about Blue's life as she went along, but I am a lame-o and couldn't tell you exactly what right now. Her life changes a little with each new pokemon, and Blue is sure each one is for the better.
She's not entirely aware of it at the moment, but coming to the Academy is definitely going to be a turning point in currently unforseen ways 8|
Bulba Getting picked by Green was a big one. It was a confirmation that he was probably good and that he got the boy that he wanted and everything was good and wonderful and great. Green's first other pokemon was a big one too because it meant Bulba had to share and nnnnnnngh fine okay.
Red team coming in and sweeping the championship from them was up there. They reached the goal but barely got to taste it, so what now? Some doors closed, but I think ultimately more of them opened to do whatever, even if it was going to be done bittersweetly.
Smash Academy you are a very large turning point for everybody um. I'm just going to use it as a general blanket label because the majority of how Bulba's life has developed and changed in recent years was all due to this school and the things that happen in it such as but not limited to: Turning into a people, meeting other people, crazy shit, relationships he probably wouldn't have otherwise, etc. THERE'S A LOT.
More specific points include Evolving (uh duh), Coming Out, AU week… Kirby coming back. vOv
Celebi The really big defining turning point for Celebi, someone who doesn't really tend to have this more than she just exists all the time everywhere, was the guy that wanted to give her forest a name. She learned how to love and regret and despair over someone that was not herself all at once.
She's otherwise remained fairly constant and hasn't really had any other big shakes in her life. Getting directly involved with someone's life tends to leave small impacts on her, but they generally don't switch out how she goes about herself.
Izzy The discovery that children are shit and people don't like you if you're different, even if you're in a town of people that are all different. That just means that nobody likes anybody, so why should she try to like anybody.
MEETING UXIE WAS KIND OF A BIG DEAL WHOA though admittedly that wasn't actually too much of a turning point uh. vOv
Vianca Becoming a white Pikmin. Watching some of her brothers and sisters get eaten. That was kind of a biggy, and pretty much defined Vianca going from relatively care-free like the rest of the Pikmin to being acutely aware of Bad Things and mother-henning over everything.
The Academy, yeah. Kind of like Bulba, this is sort of a blanket term because dear lord everything happened here. It's a bigger deal for her because Vianca has lived the majority of her life in or around the Academy. Going there was a Very Big Deal. Becoming a person, letting go of Leader, the war, meeting EVA, her sisters leaving…
Freaks Get Out was a very big thing for Vianca and she's still pretty stunted from it, oops.
Day Eleven: Is there an animal you equate with your character?
Blue ???A seal comes to mind first I think because I wanted her to have a Dewgong but that's dumb I'll come back to this??? I guess the answer is no I don't????
Bulba Dog.
Celebi Hummingbird.
Izzy ...Bat...
Vianca A tiny owl or a cat.
Day Twelve: How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
Blue Nnnnot really, no. Blue is not tech savvy. It never really caught her interest. This is Blue's first big experience with shiny new computers outside of Pokecenter PCs. There was never any point in taking a laptop with her while she traveled because 1.) It is heavy and takes up space, no matter how little it is. 2.) She'd drop it and break it. 3.) If she didn't drop it and break it someone would sit on it and break it. When she's at home there are two PCs: The relatively shiny new one that is her dad's work computer, and the really old one for general use that Blue borrows if she needs something. It is old. And slow. Putt putt putt. What are video features. This is amazing. Mewtube? Oh my god. Cute pokemon videos all day.
Outside of this shiny new school issued laptop, the latest and most up-to-date piece of technology Blue owns is her pokedex. She might be behind the times in everything else ever, but she keeps her pokedex updated at every opportunity.
Her phone is an older poketech model that can technically connect to the internet and stuff, but not very well. And its range is kind of dumb sometimes. Now that she might be settled in to one spot for at least a little while, she's thinking about upgrading a little bit and maybe getting a data plan but oh my god what are all these foreign terms what is anything. What. Help. (She knows how to text at least???)
She never had her own video game system so the only experience she probably has with those were in Red and Green's house and she probably just ended up watching because I imagine Green would have kept trying to beat Red all the time in two=player games. vOv
She does not know how to make anything private let alone how to hack anything. In lieu of this she tends to not mention things online and just saves them to talk to you in person over.
Bulba Compared to Blue, Bulba is pretty all right. He watched Green do things a lot growing up, and he's had a few years behind him at the Academy with his own stuff to get a pretty good handle on all of it. He doesn't really know how to hack, but he made learning how to make stuff fairly private a priority early on when he just wanted to say things to Green Team or make Questionable Plans with Questionable Squirtles. He was a kid that's what kids do they SNEAK. 8'|
This is where we headcanon that Green Team is on some sort of family phone plan thing. Bulba's phone is probably either the cheapest or the random freebie phone because his is most likely to get covered in dirt and other tragedies. It can take your standard quality phone pictures because that's the usual these days, and it can send texts and take calls. That's really all Bulba needs out of it. He makes a point to try and use as proper as possible typing in his text messages unless its an emergency or he's frazzled.
His music player of choice is interesting to note because it is a CD walkman he picked up at a second-hand store. He only owns music CDs. His headphones are a weird, rigged version of earbuds using hairbands and hairclips to use cause his ears are… not good… for headphones… YEAH.
He only knows anything about video games because of his team so that tech. knowledge is actually fairly limited.
Celebi What is computer I am just going to tap on the keyboard and it is going to do a things and OH MY GOD LOOK AT THESE CUTE LITTLE PICTURES. HOW DO I MAKE THOSE. I AM GOING TO MAKE THEM ALL THE TIME!!!
Izzy Yes and no. No in general, because oftentimes it is weird to try and find the accesibility options on things and everything sucks. Touch screen phones? Who even thought that was a good idea this is all a load of shit what the hell. She is sort of very dependent on her own devices which can get her into trouble sometimes, and she's very resistant to change.
Her own laptop is just the bottom keyboard half where all the important stuff is. It has no monitor feature because she does not use it. Most of the system is by voice control or hot keys, and her keyboard is primarily in braile. She's got Microsoft Sam to read everything for her and he is a swell guy. If anyone ever plugged in a monitor to check something out they would be bowled over by how completely atrocious her desktop is because she saves EVERYTHING THERE. EVERYTHING. ITS SO GOD DAMN MESSY but you know it doesn't really matter to her so whatever. Her OS is probably something like Windows 95-2000 it is crazy. She keeps her computer in impeccable shape and runs diagnostics on it all the time because she really does not want to have to learn something new.
Her phone is a brick and also has voice features, but she gets along on it just fine without them because she has all the menus memorized.
Fuck video games. (Though she does still play the text adventure games Otacon put on her computer.)
She started to teach herself how to hack, so she can sort of do that now. Kind of. Really low levels.
Vianca She's kind of being growing up on a few electronics so she's not completely horrible or anything. Vianca's a very casual user because she vastly prefers things like books to occupy her time, but she has found books about computers to be somewhat fascinating. Not her preferred subject, but interesting all the same. She knows enough to do her daily business and keep the library going smoothly. There's no real interest for her outside of all that.
Day Thirteen: What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
Blue Now that she has a consistently soft bed she doesn't know what to do with herself anymore. Blue spent the majority of her trips camping so its like she's partially forgotten how to sleep and has been trying out all sorts of sleeping positions. When she was out in camping land she either curled up on her side in her sleeping bag or slept in whatever position was the most comfortable amongst her pile of Pocket Monsters. In a bed she tends to gravitate towards rolling on to her left side or sprawling on her stomach. Once she finds a position she tends to stay put most of the time. Being that she tries to keep so active, Blue generally does not have a hard time falling asleep and does so at fairly regular times.
She has a habit of kicking the covers off, and sleeps the best when she is curled up with someone/something. (She more often than not probably has at least one of her Pokemon in bed with her any given night. If Nephenee is not present it is probably all of them hogging all the space.)
Bulba He nests. His bed is a landscape of blanket and sweater hills and valleys that Bulba curls himself up in when it is chilly enough. He tends to do this in either form, either saurloafing it up amongst his things or curling himself up into the smallest ball possible amongst them as a boy. Doing so gives him the illusion of security and other bodies.
He tends to sleep in either form and does not have a real preference towards either. When he was going out with Kirby he tended to sleep more as an Ivysaur because Kirby didn't hold on to his people form well while he was sleeping so they cuddled that way.
SPEAKING OF Bulba is an extreme cuddler if he is sleeping with someone else it does not really matter who you are or what form he is in. It just happens. He tends to curl and nuzzle up close and steal all your precious body heat. Spooning of either variety is a thing he enjoys if it is applicable without people being weirded out. Otherwise he tends to curl up close to someone's back.
He will steal your blankets.
Celebi She snoozes predominately in pokeform. She's a super cheater with trees in her room and she prefers to curl up on mossy branches or in holes or nooks. As long as she is being cradled by some sort of flora she's perfectly content and will sleep just about anywhere.
On the rare occasions that she is sleeping in people form she is stealing your blankets like a greedy whore and making a cocoon out of them you cannot stop her. She also has a tendency to fall out of beds.
Izzy She sleeps upside down. Either from the ceiling or the closet if she's a bat, or just hanging off the edge of her bed if she's a people. Covers are always messy because fuck you. Izzy as a person tends to follow the same instinct of wrapping her arms around herself while she's sleeping, and when she is hanging off her bed this used to lead to falling off a lot. SO the lesson she learned early on in life was to sleep on her bed horizontally so that her legs could dangle over the side too and act as a sort of anchoring point.
Yes her legs fell a sleep a lot.
No she doesn't care.
Vianca Is the tidiest sleeper of all of them. She makes her bed after she uses it without fail. When she tucks herself in, she barely moves any of the covers and just sort of slides beneath them. She sleeps on her back and generally does not move once she is there. When she gets up in the mornings you can hardly tell anyone even slept in the bed it is kind of crazy.
It was a little more ruffled when Ai slept over, since they would share the bed. She would cuddle as much as Ai wanted and generally adapted to whatever position was most comfortable for her.
